3 potential opponents for Roberto Soldic’s ONE Championship debut

When Roberto Soldic signed with ONE Championship in early August, it sent shockwaves through the combat sports world.

The possibilities seemed endless, with the Croatian superstar showing interest in mixed martial arts and kickboxing fights in the organization.

However, Soldic said he would like to introduce himself to the global MMA fan base, where he built his most impressive work and became a two-division KSW champion.

So far, a strong candidate has emerged.

After a stunning knockout victory at ONE on Prime Video 1 last Friday, former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam offered himself for a match – a proposition which Soldic later accepted.

However, this is not the only possibility for the promotional newcomer.

Here we take a look at three potential opponents for the Croatian’s highly anticipated debut in the ONE Championship Circle.

#1 Zebaztian Kadestam

Former welterweight king Kadestam returned to form with back-to-back knockout wins in his two previous outings, giving him 12 knockouts in 14 career wins.

Likewise, Soldic has 17 knockouts in 20 career wins, so a matchup between them would practically guarantee fireworks.

In addition to their MMA CV, “The Bandit” was a WBC Muay Thai world champion, while Soldic boasts a perfect 4-0 list in professional boxing – with all of his wins coming in a distance.

It would be a gripping battle for the ages, as both athletes boast immense skill and firepower, and it would also have major implications for the ONE Welterweight World Title image.

#2 Murad Ramazanov

Russian phenom Murad Ramazanov would come up with a completely different stylistic match for Soldic.

The 11-0 man from Dagestan put up an excellent fight and a punishing top game en route to three straight ONE wins – including a decision over Kadestam.

And although Soldic has faced the best opponents in Europe, he has never faced a wrestler of Ramazanov’s caliber.

If the explosive Croatian could pass this test against one of the top welterweight contenders, there would be no doubting his exorbitant potential in the division.

#3 Kiamrian Abbasov

While it’s likely Soldic will have to beat one of the top contenders first, his stellar resume is proof he could compete for the belt – and reigning ONE Welterweight World Champion Kiamrian Abbasov would surely accept the challenge. .

“Brazen” has won its last four matches in the weight class, with three of those wins coming inside the distance.

But unlike the previous two names on this list, Abbasov is known for his incredible versatility – with powerful tools across all combat ranges.

The Kyrgyz star can switch seamlessly between his striking, wrestling and submission games, allowing him to mix up his methods if something isn’t working.

This comprehensive skill set would beg questions for the full game of Soldic, with the biggest prize at stake to motivate the two elite competitors.
