Even before Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut at Royal Rumble In 2018, the company teased something between Rousey and her friends and mixed martial arts training partners Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke and Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

The basis of a program was obvious. Rousey’s crew have been dubbed the Four Horsewomen in the MMA world, with the blessing of Ric Flair, as they supported Ronda as she proved that a woman could be a draw in the sport. On the other side were a group of wrestlers (including Nature Boy’s daughter) who had been given the name not because they were an on-screen team, but because they were on. forefront of the change in how WWE presented its roster of women. Professional wrestlers have mounted successful rivalries over less meaningful things, and with the star power involved here, it’s hard to imagine a Horsewoman feud wouldn’t have been a box office success, if anywhere. somewhere else.

But despite all eight women being on the company’s payroll from 2018 to 2021, the closest we’ve ever gotten to the feud was that initial tease. What happened?

Shafir spoke to Renee Paquette about her podcast Sessions recently, and while she avoids naming names or going into specifics, she doesn’t mince words on the big issue:

“Egos were at stake. Sometimes there are too many fucking cooks in the kitchen…in more ways than one. I don’t know, I feel like – I didn’t know that, but I just feel like pro wrestling was a bit more exclusive back then. It wasn’t just about playing politics, it was just about showing respect, not fucking ass and not feeling like you had to give up something of yourself to get through at the top level.

This is an answer that could blame a lot of people. An NXT rider wanted to make sure none of this was put on her…

They even argue why they didn’t argue!

Give us your opinion, Cagesiders. Should this have happened? Was it done by egos, or something else (like a lack of development on the part of some members of the MMA side)? Will this ever happen?

Welcome to today’s edition of Sportskeeda MMA Daily News Roundup, where we feature the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.

In today’s issue, we talk about Khamzat Chimaev claiming to have signed his next fight, Israel coach Adesanya weighing in on the early stoppage controversy, and more.

#3. Khamzat Chimaev agrees to fight Alex Pereira at UFC 282

Khamzat Chimaev has been calling for a fight against Alex Pereira since becoming the new middleweight champion. He now expects “Poatan” to make an extremely quick turnaround and fight him on the UFC 282 card game which takes place on December 10.

Chimaev claimed on Twitter that he signed the dotted lines for the fight and was waiting for Pereira to do the same.

@AlexPereiraUFC December 10, let’s go, I have already accepted. Now it’s up to you ⚔

Considering Pereira only fought a week ago and tends to cut his weight drastically to gain 185 pounds, it’s unlikely the UFC has offered him another fight so soon.

#2 Jason David Frank dies; reports claim it was a suicide

MMA fighter and actor Jason David Frank has died aged 49.

He was known worldwide for his iconic role as Tommy Oliver, aka the Green Ranger, and later the White Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He was also a trained mixed martial artist with knowledge of a wide range of styles, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. In 2003 he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame. He also appeared in the Arnold Classic In 2008.

He trained with UFC fighter Melvin Guillard after signing with SuckerPunch Entertainment in 2009. Frank had only one professional MMA fight under the banner of Texas Cage Fighting – Pure Combate 1 and won the submission fight against Jose Roberto Vasquez. He was undefeated in his amateur career, with all of his wins coming via finishes.

Citing sources with direct knowledge of the situation, TMZ reported that Frank’s death was by suicide. In a statement provided to the outlet, Frank’s rep asked fans to respect the privacy of his friends and family.

#1. Eugene Bareman knew Israel Adesanya was in trouble

The MMA community is divided over Israel Adesanya’s veteran referee Marc Goddard’s stoppage of Alex Pereira. According to many, including Adesanya himself, it was early. According to Adesanya’s coach Eugene Bareman, that was not the case.

face to face with Fight TVBareman candidly explained why he was happy about the stoppage:

“I’m personally happy with the stoppage. I thought Israel were in trouble. From all my experience in the sport, I’ve seen signs that they were in trouble.”

As one of Adesanya’s closest confidants, Bareman’s priority was to see Adesanya live to fight another healthy day, and he is grateful that Goddard’s stoppage ensured that:

“I felt that extending the fight longer than when Marc Goddard stopped it would not have been good for Israel’s health. So, I’m happy with the referee’s decision. In the end, we live to fight another day. You never know what might have happened if this fight could have progressed.”

Bellator caused a stir with a massive announcement for next year with Ryan Bader facing Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator 290.

The promotion broke the news of the Bader/Emelianenko heavyweight title rematch on Friday. The card will air on CBS and will take place on February 4 at the KIA Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Bader returns to defend his title after defeating Cheick Kongo earlier this year at Bellator 280. He unified the belt against Valentin Moldavsky at Bellator 273 in January.

Emelianenko returns for one last MMA fight after months of speculation. He called for a fight with Bader after a first-round knockout of Tim Johnson at Bellator 269.

It was originally expected that Emelianenko’s final fight would take place in Russia, but those plans were scrapped in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

MMA Twitter Has Mixed Reactions To Ryan Bader Vs. Fedor Emelianenko 2 News

This is what MMA Twitter had to say about the Bader/Emelianenko rematch announcement.

Emelianenko is expected to retire after Bader’s rematch. He is arguably the greatest heavyweight MMA fighter in the history of the sport.

Emelianenko has won 31 of his first 32 fights, winning titles in RINGS, PRIDE and the World Mixed Martial Arts Alliance heavyweight belt. He picked up victories over Mirko Cro Cop, Mark Coleman and Andrei Arlovski during his illustrious career.

Bader made quick work of Emelianenko in their first match at Bellator 214, winning by 35-second TKO to win the Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix. He did not lose a heavyweight fight during his tenure at Bellator.

Tickets for Bellator 290 go on sale December 2.

What do you think of Ryan Bader’s booking against Fedor Emelianenko 2?

Canadian rapper Drake, famous for songs like A dance, God’s plan, in my feelings, and more, have recently faced a sizable loss. He had bet on Nigerian-New Zealand mixed martial artist, Israel Adesanya at UFC 281, held at Madison Square Garden in New York. This is all blamed on the “Drake Curse,” meaning that if a sports team or athlete faces poor results in their next game after meeting Drake, the blame lies with them.

Drake, a popular Canadian hip-hop singer.

Drake lost the bet he placed on Izzy, the Nigerian slugger

UFC 281, which pitted Israel Adesanya against Alex Pereira, was a jaw-dropping brawl to watch. The fight was a 5-round main event. “Poatan”, which is a Brazilian nickname for Pereira, meaning “Solid Hand” has already had two wins over “The Last Stylebender”, Adesanya before this event. Now, having faced and lost him twice before, it was a chance for Adesanya to return to Pereira. Unfortunately, he was defeated in the fifth round by technical knockout (TKO).

This is not what Drake expected, as he had bet on losing Alex Pereira but was wrong. Pereira’s victory was difficult as he had struggled in the heats leading up to fifth. Had Adesanya won, Drake would have gotten a total payout of around $678,196.

Drake recently posted His loss, who topped the Top 100 list, taking over from Taylor Swift Midnights. He collaborated with 21 Savage on this new album, which saw around 404,000 first week sales in the US alone. Although he had a good win in his singing career, his guessing skills are not impressive. The Drake Curse is apparently a real thing after all.

Molly McCann’s newfound popularity among mixed martial arts (MMA) fans led her to seek advice from none other than Conor McGregor. As the biggest star in MMA history, “Notorious” has a unique take on the sport and how to handle the pressure of fame.

DIRECT! Watch UFC 281 PPV on ESPN+ here!

DOUBLE DIP CHAMPIONSHIP! Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to “The Fight Mecca”, Madison Square Garden in New York, NY, on Saturday, November 12, 2022, with two highly anticipated championship showdowns. In the pay-per-view (PPV) main event of UFC 281, the middleweight champion, Israel Adesanyawill look to settle the score with the former kickboxing nemesis and contender for the No. 5 seed, Alex Pereira. In the PPV co-main event aired by ESPN+, the Women’s Strawweight Champion, Carla Esparzaintends to defend her newly won title for the first time against the former champion and No. 2 ranked contender, Zhang Weill.

Don’t miss a single second of EPIC face-punch action!

While McCann falls far short of McGregor in terms of overall popularity, the England fighter has taken off recently. In tandem with teammate Paddy Pimblett, McCann had two memorable finishes earlier this year at the promotion’s events in London. Her performances not only captured the attention of MMA fans of all shapes and sizes, but it led her to a matchup with scorching contender Erin Blanchfield tomorrow night (Saturday November 12, 2022) at UFC 281 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

McCann told reporters during the UFC 281 pre-fight presser earlier this week that she recently reached out to McGregor and asked for his opinion on his newfound notoriety. McGregor was happy to lend a hand and give “Meatball” some words of wisdom.

“I messaged him, ‘How are you handling this? Because you can explode, and then you can explode. I couldn’t understand how people are with you sometimes.

“And so it was. “When you walk into the gym, it’s just the gym. Don’t let anyone else in. Keep everyone out. What a fight. You are a cage warrior. That’s what we are, we are champions of Cage Warriors.

“He said crazy things about ‘Valentina is going to smack a Mac.’ All of this…it was so poetic and it was so beautiful.

“My partner Ellis printed it out and put it in a sign in MSG and it’s in my front room. So everyday, if I’m struggling, or if I feel good but I don’t I don’t need to get ahead, have a big head and walk around with an ego, it’s to keep my feet on the ground and realize that I’m just here to win.

McCann, 32, is currently riding a three-fight winning streak in the UFC women’s flyweight division. If she is able to spectacularly defeat Blanchfield and continue her hot streak, it could bring her closer to title contention in 2023, especially given the lack of depth at the top of the weight class and her growing popularity among the occasional ones.

Vero Nika, 26, Myanmar’s first Lethwei fighter to win a belt in the sport, beat a Brazilian fighter with 25 wins at a Muay Thai tournament in Bangkok to secure her world No. World Muay Thai Organization. .

The ethnic Kayan boxer won bronze for Myanmar at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in 2015.

After the coup in February last year, she left for Thailand, where she began competing in Muay Thai in the 53kg bantamweight class.

Fighting phenom Kayan recently spoke to The Irrawaddy about victory, defeat, his plans and the military takeover.

The Irrawaddy (TI): Tell us about your fights.

Vero Nika (VN): I fought eight Muay Thai fights. I lost the first and won the rest. I have two more fights to fight this year on November 20 and December 24. One is against a Thai fighter.

I was only able to rest five days after each fight because there is usually a match every month. Before, I could rest for two to three months. If I win in November, I will fight in December without interruption.

TI: What difficulties did you encounter when you started competing in Muay Thai?

NV: It’s easier for me now. Previously, I could not follow the style. But things are easier now.

In boxing, you can only use your fists. But in Muay Thai you can also use your elbows. I didn’t have much confidence in boxing, maybe because I had little experience. But I have no fear in Muay Thai. I fight to win.

TI: We learned that you live in Thailand and that you participated in anti-junta demonstrations. What difficulties did you encounter to come to Thailand?

NV: After the coup, I was widely cited as an opposition figure. Some said I was in the forests with the revolutionaries but I was in Yangon.

There were a lot of lies about me so I didn’t feel safe. A friend asked me what I wanted to do.

I wanted to continue doing lethwei but it was not safe for me in Myanmar to continue my boxing career. So I decided to leave. It was around October of last year.

TI: How is Thailand?

NV: It depends how I see it. I don’t have my own money. I left with only the clothes on my back. I had nothing. My friend helped me with everything. Things were a bit difficult when I arrived but it’s better now.

Vero Nika during a Thai fight

TI: What is your opinion of the junta?

NV: I hate dictatorship. I suffered from it when I was young. I was scared and hid in my house and covered my ears if I heard people speaking Burmese.

My village was not far from a military base. The soldiers came and took what they wanted.

They killed and ate our chickens. There were many cases of rape at the time.

I don’t want to relive those memories. I don’t want to live in fear anymore. At the time, we couldn’t afford to go to school and the taxes were heavy. I don’t want to see them again. I do not like it.

TI: How is your family in Myanmar?

NV: They flee to the hills when there is fighting and return home when they stop.

Civilians across the country, including in Karen State, are being killed by the regime.

I didn’t think things would be so bad after the coup. I couldn’t help crying every time I saw reports of murders. And I couldn’t do anything but feel sorry for them. I want to defeat the dictatorship and support those who fight it. But I can’t do anything.

Vero Nika trains with the heavy bag.

TI: How did you come to Lethwei?

NV: I started when I was young. At school in Pekon, I signed up for a boxing class.

I am not interested in anything other than this sport. I can dedicate my whole life to becoming a champion. I left my family and loved ones for this sport. I’m obsessed with it and it’s my absolute necessity.

TI: What challenges have you encountered as a woman in a combat sport? How did you overcome them?

NV: It wasn’t particularly difficult. I like hard work. I don’t like when I hurt myself in training.

But the main problem is menstruation. It’s really irritating. I can’t train during my period and it hurts a lot. Several fights have coincided with my period. I have to take care of myself a lot.

I want to win the fight in December and become the black belt champion. So I want to join the One Championship [a Singapore-based mixed-martial arts competition] Next year. That’s what I want the most.

TI: People support you despite their severe difficulties. What do you want to tell them?

NV: I respect every supporter. I learned that they were watching my fights despite internet restrictions. I urge them to take care of themselves and stay safe. I will do my best and keep supporting me.

MMA Fighting confirmed today (Tuesday, November 1, 2022) that Askar Askarov (14-1-1_, has been released from the promotion. “Bullet” was scheduled to take on Brandon Royval last month (October 15, 2022), but has was forced out of the fight after facing weight loss issues.

Askarov took to Instagram last weekend (Saturday, October 28, 2022) where he requested his release from the promotion following his health issues.

“Assalamualikum, due to the fact that my return was delayed, for health reasons and it was my last fight under contract, I asked the UFC to release me,” Askarov said. “To which I received a positive response. First, let’s get health in order, then we’ll see what and how.

Askarov’s departure follows the UFC’s exit of eight other roster members yesterday. In addition to Askarov, middleweight prospect Krzysztof Jotko was also fired.

Kai Kara-France is currently the only man to defeat Askarov inside the Octagon, earning a hard-fought unanimous decision win over the Russian in March 2022. Askarov has otherwise been flawless in his arts career mixed martial arts (MMA) apart from the fun split. draw he battled against current interim titleholder Brandon Moreno in September 2019.

Askarov’s last two victories have been his biggest, sending Joseph Benavidez into retirement after a triumph over Alexander Pantoja. The strong wrestler might not be done for good in the UFC, according to his statement, but he will clearly step away from the sport to get his health in order.
