Daniel Cormier provides a disappointing update

Daniel Cormier has provided fans with a new update on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s future.

Since retiring from mixed martial arts after UFC 254, Khabib Nurmagomedov has been subjected to many, many questions about if and when he will return to the Octagon.

The 33-year-old has reassured the masses that he will keep his word and leave when the sun goes down and given that it’s been almost two years since he first hung up his gloves, it’s easy to see why most people believe it.

Of course, we should never say never in combat sports, with some fans feeling he could come back if Charles Oliveira beats Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 when the duo battle it out for the lightweight championship. ‘UFC.

Khabib’s close friend Daniel Cormier even bought into the idea, but according to ‘DC’ himself, Nurmagomedov isn’t too happy about his pal giving the theory airtime.

“I think it’s done. Last time I was on my show on ESPN and I said, maybe if Oliveira defeats Islam, then Khabib will come back. Then I go to the gym and he’s like a brother, please leave me alone! You keep doing this, I’m fine with my life. So I think he’s finished, my friend.

“He always leaves you with this ‘what if’. Look, you can’t always give everyone exactly what they want. If you leave them wanting more, that’s better that way. where you’re like “man, I wish they would do a second one”.

Khabib’s Legacy

It’s pretty safe to say at this point that Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the clearest, if not the greatest lightweights in MMA history. He did pretty much everything he set out to do in the game and along the way he was able to beat some amazing names.

Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza and more have all fallen to “The Eagle” and very few of them have really come close to giving him any trouble.

He has more than enough money to stay retired whether or not “Do Bronx” pursues him after UFC 280.
