Halle Berry is unrecognizable in her new movie Bruised
If you thought Halle Berry was all about red carpet glamor, shiny hair and flawless skin, think again.
The 55-year-old actress looks a long way from herself in a trailer for her upcoming film, Bruised.
For the film, Berry underwent a serious makeover to play Jackie Justice, a breathless mixed martial arts fighter. In the trailer, we see her character without makeup, wearing ragged clothes, and, in one scene, is shown with a black eye.
The sports drama is slated for release on Netflix on November 24, 2021 and also marks Berry’s directorial debut. The film also stars Adam Canto, Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
In the film, Justice goes through rough times, but arranges an incredible comeback – in and out of the ring – when his estranged six-year-old son returns to his life after his father’s death.
The trailer gives us a glimpse into Berry’s incredibly defined abs and commendable skills, which are the product of years of boxing training.
The actor explained last year that Bruised’s prep, which she did with the help of John Wick’s fight choreographers, took her figure to a whole new level.
“I had to look (and perform) like a professional MMA fighter, so in addition to doing MMA for four hours a day, I was also doing about 45 minutes of general strength training and 15 minutes of working out just on my abs. She wrote in an essay for Women’s Health.
“We threw the kitchen sink into my heart and, let me tell you, it took some serious dedication.”
Berry is so far the only black woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress – and we think there’s every chance that with Bruised, she could also be the first black woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress. best director.
