Nunes noticeably drops, “The Suga Show” is coming
The UFC Rankings have been updated after UFC 269, and we have the full report for you below!
Pound for pound for men: After Charles Oliveira’s submission victory over Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 269, the Brazilian advances three places to fifth place. Conversely, Poirier fell three places to rank # 8.
Pound for pound women: Valentina Shevchenko is now the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the women’s standings following Amanda Nunes’ loss to Julianna Peña at UFC 269. Nunes falls to third place, with strawweight champion Rose Namajunas (No. 2 ) also placed in front of it. Peña soars seven places to 4th place after her submission victory over Nunes.
Peña’s rise through the ranks pushed back Zhang Weili (No.5), Jessica Andrade (No.6), Holly Holm (No.7) and Carla Esparza (No.8). Katlyn Chookagian (# 10) and Xiaonan Yan (# 11) also fell in this week’s standings.
Straw weight: No change
Flyweight women: Cynthia Calvillo (# 9) and Jessica Eye (# 10) switch positions.
Bantamweight women: Amanda Nunes is now the No.1 contender following the crowning of new champion Julianna Peña. Holly Holm is now ranked # 2 and Irene Aldana is # 3. In addition, Pannie Kianzad (# 12) and Karol Rosa (# 13) exchange their places in the standings.
Women’s featherweight: N / A
Fly weight: Sumudaerji (# 12) and Amir Albazi (# 13) swap places for the second week in a row.
Bantam-weight: Dominick Cruz climbs two places to 7th place after beating Pedro Munhoz at UFC 269. Marlon Vera made a big leap this week by jumping three places to 8th place just behind Cruz. As for Munhoz, he lost two places in 10th place and Marlon Moraes gained a place in 9th place. Frankie Edgar is now in 11th place after gaining two positions.
And finally, “The Suga Show” arrived in the UFC rankings, with the self-proclaimed “Unranked Champ” now stripped of that title after making his ranking debut in 13th place after his TKO in the first round of Raulian Paiva at UFC 269..
Lightweight: Josh Emmett moved up to 6th place, Arnold Allen (No.7) and Giga Chikadze (No.8) each falling one position.
Lightweight: Justin Gaethje is now the No.1 contender, with Dustin Poirier ranked No.2 following his loss to champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.
Welterweight: No change
Average weight : André Muniz made his table debut in 13th place after his eighth consecutive victory and pushed his UFC record to 4-0 by submitting Eryk Anders at UFC 269. This pushed Chris Weidman (No.14) and Kevin Holland (# 15) to die for. rankings.
Light heavy weight: No change
Heavy weights: After winning another knockout at UFC 269 against Augusto Sakai, Tai Tuivasa returns to the heavyweight standings, placing 11th overall. Meanwhile, Sakai (# 12), Blagoy Ivanov (# 13), Walt Harris (# 14) and Sergei Pavlovich (# 15) each fall this week.
