A championship is committed to growing its heavyweight divisions, and they will continue adding gold to A: NextGen.

On Friday, October 29, ONE Super Series will see its very first ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion crowned with a stellar trilogy fight in its main event.

Roman Kryklia vs. Iraj Aziz for Preview

ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion Roman Kryklie will meet a familiar face, Iraj Azizpour, who is making his ONE debut for the newly minted crown with the goal of becoming a two-division world champion.

The two forwards met for the first time in China in 2018. The Iranian powerhouse took a majority decision victory and a tournament victory. However, since that day, Kryklia has been untouchable.

The Ukrainian has won seven straight wins ahead of his rematch with Azizpour, including more than Rade Opacique, who’s been on a roll since joining ONE and appears to be the top heavyweight contender for whoever wins at ONE: NextGen.

In the rematch, Kryklia secured a unanimous decision to redeem himself before stepping onto the ONE world stage.

In the Ukrainian’s first match in ONE, he won the ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Championship on Tarik Khbabez in an impressive showcase of his skills. Kryklia got a third round save by TKO due to three knockdowns.

At ONE: Collision Course, the light heavyweight king defended his crown for the first time against Andrei Stoica. Although he didn’t get the save he wanted, Kryklia controlled the action and took a clear, unanimous decision victory.

But now he has the opportunity to claim to be the two-division world champion while taking the series away from his Iranian rival.

The split series adds an extra layer of intrigue, especially with Opacic scoring a dominant knockout victory in ONE: First Strike. The heavyweight division is heating up and the third fight in a rivalry determines the very first ONE Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion is a great way to add fuel to the division.

ONE’s investment in heavyweight martial arts sees talent grow stronger and farther than ever. Their mixed martial arts ranks have seen Kang Ji just won, Amir Aliakbari, and Anatoly Malykhine join the ranks. And even at ONE: NextGen, undefeated contenders Kirill grishenko and Dustin Joynson enter the Circle to try to take the next step forward towards Arjan Bhullar.

The main event of kickboxing is another piece of the heavyweight martial arts puzzle as a whole.

Kryklia and Azizpour are the first to battle for gold while settling their score and setting the tone for what lies ahead. One hit is enough with that kind of power, and that’s what makes heavyweight martial arts exhilarating.

ONE: NextGen will air on Bleacher Report on Friday, October 29 at 8:30 a.m. EST / 5:30 a.m. PST.
