Vera hints at ONE’s return in the second half of 2022

Former ONE heavyweight champion Brandon Vera has hinted at the possibility of returning to the circle in the second half of 2022.

While beaming with pride for the Division’s accomplishments and competitors, Vera takes her time in an extended break before returning to war.

“It’s really an exciting time to be part of the ONE Championship and I promise I’ll be back in the ONE Circle soon. I can imagine we’re in the third or fourth quarter of this year, but you bet I can’t wait to get back to training,” Vera said.

The 44-year-old Filipino-American icon last saw action in May 2021 where he suffered a second-round technical knockout loss to now defending heavyweight champion Arjan Bhullar.

Before Bhullar, Vera tested her wares against Aung La N Sang in the light heavyweight division, but also absorbed a second-round TKO.

With the urgency of strong contenders in the division, Vera said the promotion’s talent pool “keeps growing” and feels thrilled to be a part of it.

“The heavyweight division is moving with the interim title and it shows the division is not waiting for anyone. I’m thrilled to see heavyweight go,” said Vera, who held the heavyweight belt for more than five years after beating Paul Cheng in December 2015.

“As for me, I’ll be back and I can’t think of anything but getting back what’s rightfully mine.”

Bhullar, for his part, hasn’t seen action as well since defeating Vera.
